Jeff Olsson - Industrial Eats
Jeff started cooking in restaurant kitchens at the age of 15 and later honed his skills under the tutelage of some of the nation’s most renowned chefs, including Mark Miller, Dean Fearing and Bobby Flay. Among other positions, Jeff served as executive chef at Miller’s Red Sage restaurant in Washington D.C., and he later became chef at Restaurant Nora, the first certified organic restaurant in the United States. As executive chef at New West Catering, Jeff combines his affinity for fine dining with the customization of full-service catering.
Martian is a down to earth winery in Los Alamos California that is dedicated to the journey. From sky to ground to grape to barrel to bottle and straight into your glass. Martian is the blending of the names of her sons Martin and Ian. Here at Martian we are teamed with allies from three different nations including France, Austria and California. Ours is a Joint Task Force which is defined as one established on a geographical area (Los Alamos) when the mission has a specific objective (to make the finest wines the land and vines will yield) and in which those involved come from different service branches. Christopher and Johanna Finely both graduated from UCSB in 2001 with degrees in environmental studies and art studio. Originally both were involved in marketing by working with other farmers and farmer markets. At their beach cottage in Isla Vista they had a magnificent edible garden which was certified organic. They expanded and experimented with larger pieces of land until in 2004 they grew their first fields in Los Olivos. Today they farm approximately 50-60 acres and participate in at least 6 farmers markets weekly as well as running a CSA program during peak season. Every day they stock a local farmstand. Pure food isn’t easy to find but Finley Farms goal is to produce just that. With their 3 beautiful children, the Finleys are a family farm producing all the seasonal veggies one could want!
